What We Believe

Ann Arbor Community Church is a Jesus-centered, Bible-believing, gospel-oriented church. We hold to the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed, seeing ourselves in a long line of generations taking part in the endless conversation between God and people.

We are shaped by the conviction that the church is at its best when it draws from the richness of its whole tradition. We seek to embody the strengths of the four main streams of the Christian faith—Social Justice, Liturgical, Charismatic, and Evangelical—what some call 'the Four Quadrants'.

Ann Arbor Community Church's Theological Foundations:

  • A Centered-Set Vision: We aim to always be moving toward and becoming like Jesus in all things.
  • An Egalitarian Ethic: Women and men lead in all levels of church life. We name and repent the historic injustices of patriarchy, racism, and exclusion.
  • A Pilgrim Spirit: We are a people on a lifelong journey—bringing treasures from many Christian traditions and leaving behind what no longer serves the Gospel.
  • A Prophetic Imagination: We believe “it doesn’t have to be this way.” We work alongside the Spirit to resist empire, liberate the oppressed, and embody a more just and joyful world.
  • A Transformational Hope: We trust the Spirit to heal, restore, and shape us over a lifetime of surrender and service.
