Towards the Center

God’s story is already moving. This series invites us to follow Jesus as travelers rather than gatekeepers—learning to pay attention, to move toward the light we are given, and to trust that Christ draws us together as we walk the way of transformation and belonging. Rather than beginning with boundaries or certainty, we center on Jesus himself—the one who calls, draws, and transforms people over time. Using the biblical image of pilgrimage, we explore a centered-set vision of faith that makes room for growth, difference, and honest questions while keeping Christ clearly at the center. This is an invitation to trust the Spirit’s work among us and to discover what it means to belong to one another as we follow Jesus together.

In a noisy, chaotic, and often reactive world, how do we open ourselves to the slow, sacred work of becoming? This August, we’re exploring the essential practices that make spiritual transformation possible—not through self-improvement or striving, but by surrendering to the active work of the Holy Spirit. Transformation is not something we can guarantee or control, but we can arrange our lives to be available to God. This series will walk us through five ancient and time-tested spiritual disciplines: surrender, scripture meditation, self-examination, sabbath, and solitude. Each practice confronts a different cultural resistance—our addiction to productivity, our fear of vulnerability, our discomfort with silence—and invites us to consider the deeper question: Who am I becoming? Whether you’re just starting your spiritual journey or have walked with Jesus for years, these weeks offer a chance to reflect, realign, and say yes again to God’s transforming love. Join us as we slow down, pay attention, and create space to become the people God designed us to be.

Pentecost: Every Breath a Prayer

Today we celebrate Pentecost—the day God poured out the Holy Spirit on all people, just as Jesus promised. The Bible tells us that God’s Spirit is like breath—something we all have and need to live. Every breath we take can be a reminder that God is near and active in our lives. Just like breathing helps us calm down or get ready to be brave, the Spirit helps us know God, find peace, and become who God wants us to be. The message invites us to slow down and pay attention to our breath as a way of paying attention to God. Breathing in can mean receiving God’s love, peace, or healing. Breathing out can mean letting go of stress, anger, or fear. When we pause to breathe and pray, we remember that God’s Spirit lives in us and is always working to help us grow, heal, and love others more.

All Things New invites us into the hope, restoration, and life Jesus offers through his victory over sin and death. God isn’t discarding the broken pieces of our lives; he’s redeeming them, breathing new life where we had given up. Easter isn’t a reset—it’s the beginning of new creation, the promise that Jesus has the final word over our stories.
