Immigration Conversation - Sunday, May 17
Thanks to those who signed up to be a part of a group who wants to prayerfully discern how to respond to the needs of immigrants in and around our community after Dave Paladino’s sermon on Sunday, March 8th. We are gathering over two Sundays to begin this work of discernment and prayer on April 26 and May 17, beginning at 1pm after the service. You are welcome to attend even if you didn’t initially sign up. Having two dates will allow us to have space for this process—think of it as a two-part conversation, not a fixed program we repeat twice (though, if you can’t make both we understand!). Light snacks and refreshments will be served in the gallery.
Planting the Church Gardens - Sunday, May 17
Anyone who would like to join is invited to stay after church to plant beautiful flowers. Later in the summer, when they bloom, we’ll harvest them and make them available on Sundays to take home and share with people in our lives who could use some encouragement and care.
Elementary Kids Meet Up - Sunday, May 17th
Families of kids aged 6-11 are invited to join us in the cafe' for the Elementary Kids Meet Up small group following service on Sunday, May 17th. We’ll meet for lunch, a fun group project, and a conversation about faith and life. Please talk to LaVon or Rafael Mejia to learn more.
Common Table - Saturday, May 23 (10am-noon)
All women are invited to gather at Common Table, a monthly space for food, faith, and friendship at the church. We’ll share a meal during the first hour, followed by a short devotional and time of prayer. Food is provided, and donations of beverages are welcome. Children are invited to join us for lunch! Childcare will be available during the devotional and prayer time. Come as you are and take a seat at the table.
Church Potluck - Sunday, May 31 after service
Let's enjoy each others' food and spend some quality time together. Bring a dish you enjoy if you can, no sign up needed. If the weather permits, we’ll walk to County Park. The 5/29 e-bulletin will confirm whether we’ll be inside or outside.
Unity Walk - Saturday, June 6
The Dispute Resolution Center is hosting their annual Unity Walk, which brings public visibility to the inequities between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. Participants will gain perspective and take action as they walk from the United Way of Ann Arbor (next door to A2CC) or Ypsi High School to Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church. For anyone who wants to connect communities and inspire compassion this walk is for you. All details here.
